Description:

The medical records clerk is responsible for the fulfillment of all medical record requests. Requests are to be completed in a timely fashion, recorded in the patient’s chart and payments collected if appropriate. 


After the training period, the Medical Records Clerk may have the opportunity to work on a hybrid work schedule. 


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and sends documents responsive to physician, patient, and attorney requests for medical records.
  • Answers the phone, documents record requests and ensures patient concerns are addressed by the correct member of the team.
  • Prepare and organize medical records to ensure they are complete and accurate prior to new patient appointments. 
  • Responds to daily tasks from the providers requesting patient medical records and contacts outside offices to obtain these records.
  • Processes office notes for assigned provider(s).
  • Imports videostrobe reports and photos into the patient’s chart.
  • Assists with patient referrals, importing consult notes, and testing results.
  • Assists with IT Help Desk requests for patients and staff. 
  • Provides excellent customer service, with a positive attitude and maintains good public relations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Administrative experience in a healthcare setting preferred; experience with NextGen a plus
  • Must be detail oriented and able to organize time and prioritize numerous duties within deadlines.
  • Requires the ability to deal with changes in schedule and occasional interruptions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals. 

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $18.00 to $21.00. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, education, experience, and qualifications.
