Position Summary T he Document Imaging Specialist is responsible for coordinating daily activities in the Document Imaging area, including preparation, scanning, indexing, and quality checking of medical records. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of records to support the transition to Epic EMR and maintain an efficient document imaging system. Key Responsibilities Co ordinate daily imaging functions and delegate work assignments to staff Monitor workflow and assure timely processing of records Manage chart collection, retrieval of missing records, and preparation for scanning/indexing Communicate with nurse managers and internal departments regarding record issues Track records using Cerner Work Queue Manager and Solarity workbaskets Perform patient matching for direct messages sent to PowerChart Message Center Prep/scan/index records in absence of clerks Conduct quality checks for accurate indexing and image quality Collaborate with HIMS MPI team to correct images in the EHR Assist with training and provide input on performance appraisals Recommend policy changes to improve efficiency Utilize office equipment and applications including Microsoft, Cerner/Oracle, and Solarity Adhere to safety practices and report unsafe conditions Education and Experience Requirements Hig h School Graduate or Equivalent (college credits preferred) Minimum of 2 years of document imaging experience, preferably in an HIM department In lieu of direct experience, an associate degree or higher from an accredited HIM program is required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Stron g leadership qualities with ability to delegate tasks effectively Knowledge of medical record content Abi lity to organize work and manage multiple priorities Effective verbal and written communication skills Physical Demands Bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, carrying records (20–25 lbs) Pulling and pushing carts of records (up to 28 lbs) Work Environment R outine office environment Travel between Christiana Care locations Routine contact with document imaging vendors, clinicians, physicians, and Informatio n Services staff Education: High School
