Document Control Specialist2

Location: Waynesboro GA, 30830

Contract- 6 months

Client- Southern Company( Plant Vogtle)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Document Control Specialist to join our utilities project support team. This role is critical to ensuring the security, accuracy, and proper management of project and operational records. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining document control processes, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting engineering and operations staff by providing timely access to required documentation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage document security by filing, scanning, faxing, and tracking all documents entering and leaving storage.

  • Review documents for accuracy and completeness before storage or distribution.

  • Input and maintain large volumes of documents into the company’s records management system.

  • Compose reports, conduct research, and perform data entry to support project and compliance requirements.

  • Ensure proper storage, version control, and retrieval of critical project and compliance documentation.

  • Support records retention and archiving requirements in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations personnel to ensure timely document availability.

  • Occasionally enter power plant areas to collect or verify project documentation.


Qualifications & SkillsEducation & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • Prior experience with D2 Records Management System highly preferred.

  • 2–5 years of experience in document control, records management, or administrative support roles (utility or engineering industry experience a plus).

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with electronic document management systems (EDMS).

Behavioral Skills
  • Highly professional, with the ability to work in both office and field environments.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction across multiple departments.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and data security.


Work Environment
  • Majority of work performed in an office environment.

  • Occasional entry into power plant areas required for document collection or verification.

  • Must adhere to company and regulatory safety procedures at all times.
