Job description

Expeditor Position

The Expeditor supports daily manufacturing operations by ensuring jobs, materials, and documentation move efficiently throughout the facility. This position works closely with Production, Materials, Quality, and Shipping to keep orders on schedule, expedite priority work, and provide warehouse support as needed. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitor production schedules and expedite jobs to meet customer delivery commitments.
  • Track work orders through each manufacturing operation and identify potential delays.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to prioritize hot jobs and customer expedites.
  • Stage and move materials between departments to support production flow.
  • Update ERP system with work order status, completions, and inventory transactions.
  • Verify materials, routers, and travelers accompany each job.
  • Communicate schedule changes and production status to Operations and Customer Service.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Assist Receiving, Shipping, and Warehouse during peak periods.
  • Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment (or obtain certification).
  • Maintain an organized warehouse and production staging areas.
  • Perform other production control and warehouse duties as assigned. Coordinate daily production schedules based on customer demand and manufacturing priorities.
  • Release and manage production work orders within the ERP system.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives focused on scheduling efficiency and workflow.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
  • Provide administrative support for production planning activities as required

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2โ€“4 years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, or operations support.
  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system is preferred.
  • Ability to read manufacturing work orders and production documentation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on the production floor

Minimum Competencies:

  • Aerospace or highly regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and cross-functional projects effectively.
  • Knowledge of inventory planning, supplier performance metrics, and strategic sourcing principles.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of production planning and inventory control principles.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Epicor
  • Prior training and experience in Lean tools and techniques is strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies
