Job Overview

As a Senior Configuration Management Specialist, you will serve as a senior-level configuration management professional responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing configuration management processes throughout the system lifecycle. You will help ensure the integrity, traceability, and accountability of hardware, software, firmware, technical data, and documentation while supporting mission and contractual requirements.

This role offers the opportunity to lead configuration management initiatives, improve organizational processes, and provide guidance to team members while supporting high-impact programs.

What You'll Do

  • Lead configuration management activities throughout the system lifecycle
  • Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management processes, procedures, and plans
  • Establish and maintain hardware, software, firmware, and documentation baselines
  • Manage configuration control and change management activities
  • Coordinate and support Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings and activities
  • Review and evaluate engineering change proposals, change requests, and baseline modifications
  • Perform configuration status accounting and maintain configuration records
  • Plan, coordinate, and support configuration audits and verification activities
  • Ensure configuration baselines remain accurate, traceable, and compliant with established requirements
  • Develop metrics, reports, and status updates related to configuration management activities
  • Coordinate with engineers, logisticians, program managers, and stakeholders to evaluate the impact of proposed changes
  • Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, organizational policies, and industry standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve configuration management processes and efficiencies
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to configuration management personnel

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Management, or a related field
  • Ten (10) years of experience in configuration management, document control, data management, engineering support, or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of configuration management principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Knowledge of configuration identification, change control, status accounting, and audit processes
  • Knowledge of document control, records management, and data management practices
  • Ability to evaluate and manage configuration changes and associated impacts
  • Ability to develop and maintain configuration management plans, procedures, and baselines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead configuration management efforts across multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to prepare and present reports, audit findings, and recommendations to leadership and customers
  • Proficiency with configuration management and document management tools
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if required

Preferred Experience

  • Specialized training in configuration management, systems engineering, data management, acquisition management, or related disciplines
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal Government programs
