We are currently seeking a Mechanical QAR - QA/QC Representative to lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of the Quality Management Plan for mechanical systems-including high-purity process piping and HVAC installations-on a large, high-tech construction project in North Phoenix, AZ.

JOB OVERVIEW

This role is responsible for establishing the QA/QC framework for mechanical systems, setting up and managing quality documentation workflows, and ensuring adherence to project-specific and industry quality standards. While the role includes field interaction and inspection involvement, the primary responsibilities focus on quality program development, document control structure, and ongoing compliance oversight across contractors and subcontractors.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain the Mechanical QA/QC Plan for all applicable systems, including process piping (UPW, PCW, gas, waste) and HVAC installations.
  • Define inspection hold points, submittal protocols, and turnover documentation standards in collaboration with project leadership.
  • Oversee the implementation and enforcement of the Quality Plan across subcontractors and quality teams.
  • Establish and maintain an organized QA/QC documentation structure, ensuring full visibility and traceability of weld logs, inspection reports, NCRs, redlines, and test results.
  • Collaborate with the Document Control team to align document workflows within Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or equivalent systems.
  • Review contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for completeness, alignment with project specs, and system-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate HVAC-specific quality verifications, including ductwork cleanliness, insulation, supports, sealing, balancing documentation, and system commissioning readiness.
  • Support system walkdowns and pre-functional checks by providing QA documentation and tracking closeout of punch items.
  • Monitor contractor QA staffing and practices to ensure proper execution of quality protocols.
  • Conduct quality onboarding with trade partners and assist in training or clarifying QA expectations and reporting standards.
  • Work closely with Mechanical Work Group Leads, Construction Managers, and Project Engineers to drive a proactive quality culture.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of experience in QA/QC roles supporting mechanical and process piping systems, with demonstrated leadership in quality plan development and enforcement.
  • In-depth understanding of high-purity mechanical systems (stainless steel piping, gas systems, process waste) and HVAC systems (supply/exhaust ducting, cleanroom air handling, hydronic systems).
  • Proven experience setting up and maintaining a structured quality documentation system for large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as ASME B31.3, SMACNA, AWS D18, and ISO cleanroom protocols.
  • Proficient in construction drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, submittals, and system schematics.
  • Familiarity with digital QA tracking tools; experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, or Bluebeam preferred.
  • Exceptional organization, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to hold subcontractors accountable to quality deliverables.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector), Mechanical QA/QC certification, or equivalent credentials strongly preferred.
