Job Summary
Big Sandy Community and Technical College is currently searching for their next Dean of Health Sciences (Manager IV Academic Support). This twelve-month, renewable term-contract position reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for the leadership of the college's Health Sciences programs, which include Community Dental Health, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Health Science Technology, Medical Information Technology, Paramedic, Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, and Respiratory Care.

Job Duties:
The Dean of Health Sciences is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Health Sciences division, including ensuring appropriate course offerings; leading program review, assessment, and program accreditation; and developing, with faculty, support programs that strengthen instructional quality. The Dean also serves as the initial point of contact for student complaints, coordinates faculty advising assignments, and provides leadership in tracking key student success metrics.
The Dean of Health Sciences is the first-level supervisor for all Health Sciences faculty and, as such, conducts annual evaluations for all employees within the Health Sciences division. The Dean also recruits and supervises Health Sciences adjunct faculty and communicates regularly, in coordination with discipline assessment leaders. The Dean also ensures that faculty successfully deliver their courses in a variety of modalities, which includes appropriate use of the college's learning management system.
The Dean of Health Sciences has fiscal oversight of the Health Sciences division and works collaboratively with college leadership and appropriate external stakeholders. The Dean of Health Sciences is an integral member of the Chief Academic Officer's leadership team and assists with strategic planning and 4DX.
Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will, at minimum, hold a Master's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and hold an unencumbered license to practice in their respective field, if applicable. They will have at least three years of experience in their profession, including clinical experience. Previous supervisory experience is also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will possess experience in academic course or program evaluation, curriculum design, and data-informed decision-making.
