Job description

Benefits:
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Training & development
  • Bonus based on performance

Neighborhood Canvasser - Part-Time
Lawn Doctor is hiring part-time neighborhood canvassers to help schedule free lawn evaluation appointments with homeowners.
This is an outdoor, activity-based role. Canvassers work assigned neighborhoods, knock doors, introduce Lawn Doctor, leave door hangers when nobody answers, and schedule interested homeowners for a free lawn evaluation.
This is not a door-to-door sales closing role. You are not expected to diagnose lawn problems, quote prices, or sell lawn care at the door. Your job is to create qualified appointments for our Lawn Care Pros to inspect the lawn and make recommendations.
We are looking for dependable, professional people who can work a consistent part-time schedule, stay active outdoors, communicate well with homeowners, and follow a simple process.
Position Overview
  • Part-time W-2 position
  • $15 per hour starting pay
  • 20 hours per week
  • 5 shifts per week
  • Approximately 4 hours per shift
  • Approximately 100 assigned doors knocked per shift
  • Approximately 500 assigned doors knocked per week
  • Performance bonuses available after minimum sold appointment expectations are met
What You'll Do
  • Knock assigned doors in approved neighborhoods
  • Introduce homeowners to Lawn Doctor
  • Let homeowners know we are working in the area
  • Offer a free lawn evaluation to interested homeowners
  • Schedule qualified appointments for our Lawn Care Pros
  • Leave door hangers at homes where nobody answers
  • Track doors, notes, conversations, and appointments in our app
  • Move efficiently through assigned neighborhoods
  • Represent Lawn Doctor in a polite and professional manner

This role is focused on activity, consistency, and appointment setting. Most doors will not turn into conversations. Many homeowners will not answer. Some will not be interested. The right person for this role can stay positive, keep moving, and follow the process.
Appointment Expectations
The purpose of this role is to set qualified appointments for free lawn evaluations.
A successful canvasser should create enough quality appointments to help produce at least 2-4 sold customers per week.
Door hangers are part of the process, especially when nobody answers, but this is not just a door hanger position. The goal is to create real appointments with homeowners who may need help with their lawn.
Qualified Appointment
A qualified appointment is a homeowner who:
  • Owns or makes decisions for the property
  • Is located in our service area
  • Agrees to a free lawn evaluation
  • Provides accurate contact information
  • Has a lawn or outdoor service need that fits what we offer
Pay and Bonuses
This is a W-2 hourly position.
Pay starts at $15 per hour.
Canvassers are eligible for $50 bonuses for each sold appointment after minimum sold appointment expectations are met.
The first 4 sold appointments in a week are considered part of the minimum performance expectation for the role. After 4 sold appointments in a week, canvassers earn a $50 bonus for each additional sold appointment.
Examples:
  • 4 sold appointments in a week = hourly pay
  • 5 sold appointments in a week = hourly pay plus $50 bonus
  • 6 sold appointments in a week = hourly pay plus $100 bonus
  • 8 sold appointments in a week = hourly pay plus $200 bonus

A sold appointment means the homeowner attended the scheduled lawn evaluation, signed up for service, received their first service, and paid their first bill.
Bonuses are paid after the customer signs up, receives their first service, and pays their first bill. Most customers are on autopay, so payment is usually processed quickly after the first service.
Schedule
This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week.
Canvassers work 5 shifts per week, approximately 4 hours per shift.
Typical shifts are:
  • Monday through Friday: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Saturday, when scheduled: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

We are primarily looking for availability Monday through Friday during afternoon and early evening hours, when homeowners are more likely to be home.
Friday and Saturday may be used as flexible scheduling options depending on route availability, weather, and business needs.
Canvassers may only work during approved canvassing hours. We do not canvass after dark, during twilight, or late in the evening.
Weather Policy
This is an outdoor position, and Florida weather is part of the job.
We do not canvass during unsafe or inclement weather, including heavy rain, lightning, severe storms, or other conditions where it is not reasonable to be walking neighborhoods.
If a shift is called off or ended early due to weather, canvassers are not paid for the time not worked.
During the summer rainy season, canvassers may have the opportunity to make up missed doors on another approved day, depending on schedule, territory availability, and company approval.
The weekly activity goal remains approximately 500 doors knocked when weather allows.
Requirements
  • Reliable cell phone
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week
  • Ability to work 5 shifts per week, approximately 4 hours per shift
  • Comfortable walking outdoors in Florida weather
  • Comfortable talking to homeowners
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to use our tracking app
  • Ability to follow assigned routes and instructions
  • Ability to stay positive after rejection
  • Dependability and consistent attendance
This May Be a Good Fit For Someone Who:
  • Enjoys being outside
  • Does not want a desk job
  • Can walk for several hours at a time
  • Is comfortable talking to new people
  • Can handle rejection without taking it personally
  • Likes clear goals and simple expectations
  • Wants part-time work with bonus potential
  • Can commit to a consistent 20-hour weekly schedule
  • May be interested in future sales opportunities
This Is Probably Not a Good Fit For Someone Who:
  • Does not want to walk outdoors
  • Does not like talking to strangers
  • Only wants occasional work
  • Cannot commit to a consistent schedule
  • Gets discouraged quickly after hearing no
  • Does not want to use an app to track activity
  • Is looking for a remote or office-based job
  • Only wants to be paid to hang door hangers without setting appointments
