Job description

Dock Manager

Full Time - 2nd Shift

Portland, OR

At Day & Ross, we're committed to excellence-and you belong here. As a Dock Supervisor, you will lead a team of Dock Workers and Agency Associates to ensure efficient operations, on-time deliveries, and the highest standards of safety and service. This role is integral to achieving company objectives through accountability, results-driven leadership, and effective problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance, motivation, and direction to Dock Workers (including employees and agency workers) to achieve operational goals for the terminal.
  • Escalate issues such as poor performance, inappropriate behavior, absenteeism, etc., to the Operations Manager for prompt resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company, and customer safety protocols and requirements.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to track and analyze monthly performance statistics for the dock.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transportation or warehouse operations, with preference for dock operations.
  • Proven leadership experience in transportation or related industry is a strong asset.
  • Advanced verbal communication skills (English and Spanish are both an asset).
  • Strong computer proficiency: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based applications, RF scanners; TMW experience is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of industry-related equipment, including forklifts, lift jacks, trailers, etc.
