Overview:
Manager, Construction Management
The Manager, ConstructionManagement is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing assigned construction and renovation projects within the healthcare organization to ensure alignment with strategic goals, compliance with regulatory standards, and delivery on time and within budget. This role manages multiple capital improvement and infrastructure projects, working closely with internal stakeholders (clinical, administrative, and facilities teams) and external vendors (architects, contractors, consultants) to ensure healthcare facilities meet operational, safety, and patient care standards.
Lead and manage construction projects from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Oversee all phases of construction including planning, design review, permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout.

  • Collaborate with internal departments (clinical, IT, facilities, finance) to define project scope, goals, and operational requirements.

  • Manage relationships and contracts with architects, engineers, general contractors, and consultants.

  • Monitor construction progress and performance; identify and resolve issues proactively.

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with federal, state, and local building codes, including healthcare-specific regulations (e.g., Joint Commission, OSHPD, ADA, NFPA, infection control standards).

  • Develop and manage project budgets; track costs, change orders, and forecasts.

  • Coordinate move management and transition planning for completed projects.

  • Prepare regular project status reports for leadership, including risk assessments and mitigation plans.

  • Promote and ensure a culture of safety, quality, and compliance on all job sites.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture or related field required.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree 4 years of construction management experience will be accepted.
  • Experience in healthcare construction and/or project management is highly preferred. Bachelor's degree (Required)

Position is Hybrid for the Virginia Hampton Roads/Peninsula region
