Job description

Comporium is a diversified communications company providing a Quintuple Play of five services -- voice, video, data, wireless and security -- at the retail level; as well as, providing security monitoring and media services for its industry customers. Under this concept, the Comporium Group is uniquely positioned to offer customers a one-stop-shopping for all their communications needs.
SUMMARY
Self motivated Individual able to manage locate caseload of underground cable locate requests received through PUPS and other electronic providers, accurately locating all buried facilities with a 3 day window from the date of the request In addition, all emergency locates must be completed upon request with an immediate response. Strong team mindset. Assist Supervisor with any assignments to protect our buried network.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately locate underground facilities - telephone, coax, and fiber - utilizing a laptop, mapping software, cable records, smart phones, cable locators, etc. Must provide photos and videos of all locate marks for each locate ticket completed.
  • Manage the electronic database into which locate requests are received, prioritizing and completing all locates within the 3 day deadline and closing them out.
  • Communicate/interact with excavation contractors to fully understand the parameters of excavation scope and timeline to minimize damage to underground facilities.
  • Work with other utility companies and construction companies on a daily basis.
  • Through expert knowledge and superior preventative maintenance activities, maintain all equipment to minimize downtime and extend the serviceable life of all equipment.
  • Perform spot digging to ensure accuracy of questionable locates.
  • Assist as needed during damage investigation and restitution recovery efforts.

REQUIREMENTS
  • High School or equivalent required
  • Related work experience or knowledge of the industry desired but not necessary.
  • Basic computer skills, strong work ethic, attention to detail, interpersonal skills
  • Must possess valid driver's license. Complete the Comporium technical training locating module and the SC 811 Academy online course within 6 months.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs., climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, work outdoors, work in confined spaces
  • Subject to after hours and emergency locate call outs and scheduled duty rotation.
