Position Title: Assistant District Operations Director (ANTICIPATED)
General Description of Position
JOB GOAL(S):
The Assistant District Operations Director supports the District Operations Director in the comprehensive administration and supervision of District facilities. This role assists the Operations Director with managing maintenance and directly manages custodial and food service operations, ensuring that all sites are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. The Assistant Director works as a collaborative partner with staff and administrators to streamline District operations and cultivate a productive, positive work culture.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Proven ability to independently manage diverse operational tasks with a high degree of success.
2. Strong leadership skills with a focus on staff development and team morale.
3. Effective relationship management skills with vendors, contractors, and District personnel.
4. Extensive expertise in modern facility management and custodial operations.
5. Functional understanding of large-scale institutional food service and cafeteria operations.
6. Significant experience with 208/480VAC 3-phase electrical hardware and associated control systems.
7. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical mechanical and electrical schematics.
8. Effective digital literacy in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and operational management software.
9. Deep understanding of logistics, procurement, and supply chain management.
10. Refined verbal and written communication skills for professional reporting and coordination.
REPORTS TO: District Operations Director and Chief School Business Official
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs the hiring, and coordinates training of all custodial and food service personnel.
2. Performs the evaluation and strategic procurement of custodial supplies and equipment.
3. Administers a comprehensive and current Safety Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) program across all facilities.
4. Optimizes the scheduling and deployment of substitute custodial personnel.
5. Manages work and location schedule for the maintenance staff.
6. Oversees and implements the procurement of maintenance materials, ensuring inventory readiness.
7. Coordinates and assists with the snow management program, directing both maintenance and custodial teams.
8. Assists in implementing systematic programs for facility inspection, maintenance, and capital improvement.
9. Collaborates with building administrators on the performance evaluation of custodial and food service staff.
10. Leads monthly strategic meetings with head custodians to ensure standard alignment across the District.
11. Formulates data-driven budget recommendations for maintenance, snow removal, and custodial equipment.
12. Partners with food service leads to develop annual budgets and long-term projections for kitchen assets.
13. Leads the public bidding process for meal vendors as required to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service.
14. Conducts periodic safety and cleanliness audits of cafeterias and kitchens to ensure a welcoming environment.
15. Maintains essential certifications for asbestos management and general regulatory compliance.
16. Supports site administrators in maintaining facilities that enhance the instructional program.
17. Coordinates with District delivery personnel to ensure efficient logistical flow.
18. Proactively identifies and implements operational improvements and cost-saving measures.
19. Designs and coordinates professional development pathways for maintenance and custodial personnel.
20. Implements safety, security, and cleanliness standards while developing procedures for high-quality operations.
21. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Director or Chief School Business Official.
22. Provides leadership and support to the Transportation Coordinator to ensure alignment of services and priorities.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month position
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually
SALARY RANGE: $65,000- $80,000 based on years of experience.
