Job description

The Logistics Manager serves as the primary leader for the Route Delivery team and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily delivery operations. This role includes recruiting, hiring, fleet, developing delivery drivers, providing strong day-to-day leadership, championing safety initiatives, and fostering a customer-focused service culture, while managing costs. The Logistics Manager partners closely with the Sales team to support growth objectives while maintaining disciplined control of operating expenses and ensuring efficient, high-quality execution across all routes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead by example, consistently modeling a positive, solution-oriented attitude. Embracing a can do mindset.
  • Establish clear expectations, process and procedures and hold the team accountable for behaviors and results that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to First-Class Service for both internal and external customers.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture, encouraging teamwork, and engagement.
  • Ability to maintain and manage third party relationships with key vendor accounts
  • Provide hands-on leadership, proactively stepping in to support the team and ensure business objectives are met.

Safety

  • Play a key role in building and sustaining a safety-first culture by actively promoting awareness and encouraging all team members to think safety before acting.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly safety meetings to reinforce best practices, training, and compliance expectations.
  • Ensure fleet is properly maintained and operated.
  • Train, coach, and enforce safe work behaviors, proactively address safety concerns and correct issues in real time.
  • Ensure all accidents and injuries are reported, investigated, and documented accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain working knowledge of and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and government regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and Health Department requirements.
  • Service

  • Ensure the consistent delivery of complete and accurate orders, meeting established quality and service standards.
  • Monitor on-time delivery performance and proactively adjust schedules, routes, and workloads to maintain service excellence.
  • Lead and develop the team with a strong Customer-First mindset, reinforcing service expectations through daily actions and decisions.
  • Reduce special or exception deliveries through effective training, coaching, and accountability.
  • Minimize or eliminate service interruptions by anticipating issues and responding quickly to operational challenges.
  • Remain flexible and hands-on, including the ability to cover routes as needed, both with a helper or independently. Business has a 24/7 model, so we always have a teammate on the road servicing customers.
  • Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of management experience, preferably in distribution, logistics, or route-based operations
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record. Preferably carries a CDL
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment process
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to effectively use technology, including computers, Microsoft Teams, handheld devices, and route optimization software
