Purpose: Assists in setting up, preparing and serving daily meals and assists in cleanup of food service areas and equipment, trays, silverware and utensils.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Possesses high personal grooming and behavior standards for cleanliness and professional appearance
  3. Ability to interact well with other USD employees
  4. Ability to accept standards and to follow instructions
  5. Moderate physical demands
  6. Must be able to get to work in any and all weather or temperature conditions with reliable transportation to and from scheduled shift.

Supervisor: Kitchen Manager, Food Service Director
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare foods as specified on menus and/or according to plans set by Director of Food Service.
  2. Maintain responsibility for assigned food preparation, service and clean up.
  3. Perform food handling, line service or table service under strict safety and sanitary guidelines and regulations.
  4. Prepare amounts of food as directed and replenishes food in the line as required.
  5. Implements local and governmental policies and regulations as required.
  6. Keep records and accounts for all meals served.
  7. Store, shelve and access food supplies; keep storage facility in an orderly manner.
  8. Abide by practices and procedures to safely lift and carry supplies.
  9. Practice safe operations of food service equipment; meet all district safety requirements. (District, KDHE, USDA)
  10. Clean lunch room(s) and areas assigned to food service and maintain sanitary conditions at all times; wash hands upon arrival; wear a hairnet and proper attire at all times during work hours.
  11. Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, storerooms, and ovens at regularly scheduled intervals as required.
  12. Store chemicals and other possible food contaminants appropriately as required.
  13. Observe and report possible contamination, sanitary or safety conditions to Director of Food Service.
  14. Report needed minor or major repairs to Director of Food Service.
  15. Stand ready to relieve or to fill in as required.
  16. Achieve all work assignments according to standards.
  17. Maintain district appearance and grooming standards.
  18. Manage job with ability to read, write and comprehend written and oral instructions; maintain good health and physical condition to cook, shelve, clean, transport, and serve food on a daily basis; moves, lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis, pulls, or pushes heavy objects; use observation and communication to conduct jobs related to cooking, cleaning and serving food to children; use all types of kitchen and cleaning equipment.
  19. Attend in-service and/or instructional sessions.
  20. Assist with relief on the serving line
  21. Other job duties as assigned.
