Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Distribution Specialist is responsible for managing the distribution of product to customers. This includes verifying product availability, creating and releasing sales orders, and maintaining an accurate and concise schedule of customer shipments. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the distribution of product for managed chains and providing support services to the Director of Product Distribution for ensuring new and reordered product are distributed in a timely and efficient manner. This will be at our South location at 5501 Park Ave, Des Moines, Iowa, 50321.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Development of team members in supporting function.
  • Attend weekly meetings as necessary - production.
  • Manage the daily reception of new POs from Customers and schedule POs to ship in a timely manner.
  • Manage POs for all customers,
    1. Research and advise Sales Operations of product availability for customer orders.
    2. Prepare the sales order for all DC customers and send to warehouse for shipment in a timely manner.
    3. Review the shipment of sales orders for customers and respond to inquiries regarding shipments.
    4. Work with IT to get customers moved to the automated system, if warranted.
  • Familiarity with managed customer shipments and new product distribution – including Quick Ships as a support service.
    1. Monitor new product arrival and manufactured product availability and facilitate distribution of new/manufactured product.
    2. Maintain POG assignments for products and for individual stores.
    3. Create quick ships and manual shipments as needed to distribute new product.
    4. Manage inputs into Replenishment System.
    5. Maintain inputs on changes to individual managed customer accounts.
    6. Monitor and maintain weeks of supply levels.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Outstanding computer skills, including advanced level of knowledge of Microsoft Excell. Use of other database and analysis tools is a plus.

  • Ability to manage more than one process at a time

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, sitting, walking and standing functions. The position also requires frequent repetitive motion activities. Must be able to read print and computer-based materials and to do so with consistent accuracy. Most of these functions require light physical exertion and are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment with occasional exposure to hot and cold temperature.

INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be a problem solver and independent thinker and be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
