Job Information
Republic Companies is seeking an experienced Distribution Center Manager to lead the overall operations and performance of our distribution center in Davenport, Iowa. This role is responsible for overseeing the efficient flow of inventory through the DC and supporting the fulfillment needs of our branch network, with accountability for transfer performance, transportation, warehouse capacity, operational efficiency, and service levels.
We're looking for a strong leader who can build effective teams, drive continuous improvement, use operational data to improve performance, and take ownership of Distribution Center results in a fast-paced, multi-branch distribution environment.
Role & Responsibility
  • Own the DC's role as the central inventory and fulfillment hub for the company's branch network.
  • Prioritize and monitor branch transfers to ensure timely, accurate fulfillment based on branch demand and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate outbound transportation, including LTL, truckload, dedicated, and company transfer shipments.
  • Manage carrier relationships and transportation schedules while resolving delays, shortages, damages, and other service issues.
  • Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency and reduce expenses.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve Distribution Center performance metrics, including transfer turnaround time, warehouse capacity utilization, and freight/transportation costs.
  • Use operational data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities to improve DC efficiency and service.
  • Work with VP of Operations to develop and execute corrective action plans when performance targets are not met.
  • Direct daily operations for receiving, inventory control, order picking, and outbound transfers.
  • Hire, coach, evaluate, and hold warehouse staff accountable to performance standards.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure accuracy in inventory, receiving, and product returns.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Branch Managers on stock transfers and replenishment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transaction processing within the ERP. ERP records for receiving, inventory etc should be timely and accurate.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED required. Some College or equivalent Experience required.
  • Experience Required: 0-2 years of experience in warehouse management, inventory management, or distribution experience preferred.
  • Experience using scanners, tablets, or inventory management systems preferred, not required
  • Ability to operate a forklift required
  • Experience working with trucking/logistics companies to coordinate shipments
  • ERP system experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills.
  • Organized, process-focused, and able to lead through others

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and climb throughout the workday. \
  • Ability to work at a computer, respond to emails, answer phones, and conduct/participate in virtual meetings.
  • Ability to load and unload product from delivery vehicle using forklift.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and industrial customer environments.

  • Combination of warehouse, driving, and customer facility environments.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in warehouse and customer locations.
