Position Summary:

Provides leadership and direction to non-exempt distribution (Shipping & Receiving) team members in support of safety, quality, production, and problem-solving issues while ensuring that customer quality and delivery expectations are met. Warn Industries is a fully committed team-based organization. The Distribution Supervisor must be a role model, leader, and coach. The Distribution Supervisor is accountable to the Logistics and Warehouse Manager for distribution team performance, and they must accomplish team objectives through team leadership and development.


Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include leading a group of Distribution team members in a cost-efficient manner while supporting the development and maintenance of the shipping and receiving functions of the company, prioritizing, and completing all essential functions in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative and application in continuous improvement in each aspect of the positionโ€™s span of control.

Working in conjunction with Logistics and Warehouse Manager:


  1. Lead Distribution teamโ€™s daily activities which would include but not be limited to: (a) Assign team members to specific tasks to support shipment and production plan as provided by the Manager; (b) Review distribution workload and schedules to meet shipping and receiving objectives, maintain accuracy and attain output requirements; (c) Supervise team members in problem-solving activities that enhance safety, quality and productivity objectives; (d) Provide key leadership and support in regular cycle counting, as well as during annual inventory process and quality audits; (e) Lead the team in working in a dynamic environment and managing space requirements for put-away, storage, retrieval of products; and (f) Manage Sarbanes-Oxley compliance of the Distribution team via internal controls, self-assessment and reporting.


  1. Contribute to a successful work group through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, and the constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet or exceed the organizationโ€™s strategic goals. Lead Distribution team members by: (a) Participating in employment, training, development, team member motivation, counseling and discipline; (b) Working with team members to improve their performance and team contribution by providing growth and development opportunities via cross-training and performance evaluations; (c) Ensuring maintenance and checklist requirements of equipment and a safe, clean environment; (d) Communicating effectively across teams and shifts; (e) Maintaining metrics, records, and documentation to reflect schedules, performance, methods, and procedures for the team and reporting these to the Manager; and (f) Gathering data and making suggestions to Manager for continuous improvement initiatives in the Distribution area.


  1. Participate with strategic and tactical activities such as: (a) Actively participate in the Warn selection process in compliance with all applicable laws and policies; (b) Work with Manager to develop and maintain budget for assigned team; (c) Exemplify and act as change-agent for safety, quality and productivity objectives through application of problem-solving and continuous improvement best practices, and operational systems such as MRP, Quality, TPM, etc.; and (d) Execute and complete projects within the team or between internal teams that support safety, quality and productivity.


  1. Interact with Manufacturing, Material Planning, Purchasing, and Maintenance personnel in support of production and capacity planning needs.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven success as a supervisor or manager in a warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or 3PL environment.
  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience in yard operations and dock management.


Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated college project coursework in Lean Manufacturing, APICS, Warehouse Management System (WMS), Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Total Quality Management applications in real-world environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) tools, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and various ERP platforms in all function screens applicable to shipping, receiving, inventory control, transportation management.
  • Associateโ€™s degree in business preferred.


Availability Requirements:

Due to the nature and scope of the essential functions of this position, the importance of personal interactions with coworkers and direct reports, and the availability of job-related tools, equipment and resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular, consistent availability, accessibility, and presence on-site and after-hours. The required number of hours per week will vary depending on what is required to efficiently perform the job duties of this position. This position will require availability and accessibility to respond to and address emergencies and critical situations outside of normal business operating hours in the early mornings, evenings and/or during weekends and holidays.

  • May require standing, walking, and/or sitting for 8+ hours a day.
  • Lift, transport and/or move up to 40 pounds individually and 70 pounds with assistance.

  • Work for extended periods of time in a moving or stationary position in conjunction with completing required job tasks. Must be able to climb on and off a forklift and other equipment frequently as required to perform job duties.

Team members in this position may be exposed to loud noises from equipment and machinery, cold or hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors, etc. Team members may also occasionally be required to work in an office environment with traditional office lighting and office furniture, as well as consistent and frequent noise, interruptions and other similar distractions.
