Job description

Position Summary:
The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, ensuring efficient and accurate order fulfillment, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role oversees and collaboratively works with the team of order processors, other departments and leadership to coordinate activities to meet productivity, quality, and customer service goals.
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Promote safe work practices and demonstrates a zero tolerance for non-compliance with safe work practices, policies and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer expectations
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and ensure a clean, safe work environment
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for QAD ERP system functionality and utilization within the distribution team
  • Ensure accurate data entry accuracy and completeness and system updates for inventory, shipping, and receiving
  • Train and support team members on QAD system usage and best practices
  • Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with IT or ERP support teams as needed
  • Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with established workflows
  • Supervise employees engaged in shipping, receiving, loading/unloading, and order processing
  • Assign tasks and monitor workflow to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders
  • Meets or exceeds distribution targets and goals
  • Performs customary management and supervisory responsibilities, including setting, planning, direction, training, and evaluation
  • Maintain orderly storage, picking, and staging of products to meet productivity and quality standards
  • Successfully operates on plan and, when necessary, takes appropriate action to get back on plan in a safe and effective manner
  • Effectively communicates with cross-shifts and represents Service Wire standards, plans, and policies
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and increase efficiency
  • Coordinates activities of personnel with regard to processing orders and material production
  • Processes orders according to urgency while considering stock availability, order quantity, and material type
  • Analyze and communicate control of inventory levels and provide reports on slow-moving or surplus stock
  • Collaborate with other departments (sales, customer care, purchasing, freight) to optimize processes and resolve issues
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all distribution activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or five years related industrial experience or equivalent training required
  • Demonstrated effective management and supervisor skills
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience with QAD ERP or similar enterprise resource planning systems required
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge or experience to define problems, generate alternatives, and execute solutions
  • Strong basic math and measuring skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and respond to general instructions, direction, and correspondence, both oral and written
  • Ability to work cooperatively with members of various departments
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft office programs and related products
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all distribution activities
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement/lean principles preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

  • Work environment is comparable to outdoor temperatures
