Distribution Field Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a Field Technician to join our Power Distribution Group in Tampa, FL. This role involves supporting third-party attachment (Telecom Joint Use) by collecting data points on existing power poles, identifying equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, telecom and power lines, taking measurements, marking heights of lines, and taking photos. This position is crucial in supporting the Distribution Design Team for Florida.

Responsibilities

  • Collect data points on existing power poles in the field.
  • Identify and document equipment such as transformers, breakers, switches, telecom, and power lines.
  • Take accurate measurements and mark the heights of lines.
  • Capture photographs of equipment and installations.
  • Support the Distribution Design Team with data and field insights.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in data collection and field experience.
  • Experience in electric utility and field engineering.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and power delivery systems.
  • Familiarity with telecommunication and telecom equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree is a plus.
  • Prior field utility experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Tech-savvy with a comfort for working outdoors.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

Work Environment

The role involves working primarily in the field, approximately 90% of the time, with the remaining 10% dedicated to administrative tasks and data entry in the office. A company vehicle and gas card are provided for fieldwork. The fieldwork is conducted either in groups of two or three, or sometimes alone. The position follows a 4/10 schedule with opportunities for overtime, offering exposure to the utility field and potential career advancement into design roles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
