How you create impact

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day execution and operational performance within an assigned area or shift in a Kuehne+Nagel Contract Logistics facility operating under a 4PL model. While warehouse activities are primarily performed by a 4PL partner, the Supervisor acts as Kuehne+Nagel's on-floor representative, ensuring operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with KPIs, SOPs, and customer requirements.

Area/Shift Execution Control
  • Coordinate daily operations to ensure alignment with operational plans, priorities, and schedules.
  • Monitor shift performance, including throughput, service levels, quality, backlog management, start-up activities, and shift handovers.
4PL Operational Oversight
  • Serve as the primary Kuehne+Nagel contact for 4PL shift and area leads.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, skill coverage, and adherence to established processes and procedures.
  • Address execution issues and escalate operational risks or performance concerns as required.
Safety, Quality & Compliance (QSHE)
  • Promote compliance with Kuehne+Nagel safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor safe work practices and address unsafe conditions or behaviors to maintain a compliant workplace.
Issue Resolution & Problem Solving
  • Identify and resolve operational issues affecting service, productivity, or quality.
  • Support root cause analysis and ensure timely communication and escalation of service-impacting concerns.
Performance Monitoring & Communication
  • Track and validate operational KPIs and shift performance metrics.
  • Participate in daily meetings, shift handovers, and operational huddles.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear feedback on performance, issues, and follow-up actions.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and recurring operational challenges.
  • Support and sustain continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring updated procedures and SOPs are consistently followed by the 4PL partner.
