Job Title: Distribution Engineering Technician I / II (Hybrid) Location: Williamsport, MD Schedule: Hybrid (Primarily Onsite โ€“ Up to 4 Remote Days Per Month) Duration: 2 year Contract Position Summary Our client, a leading electric utility organization, is seeking a Distribution Engineering Technician I/II to support electrical distribution operations, reliability programs, and customer interconnection activities. This role will work closely with engineering, operations, customers, contractors, and installers to support distribution system maintenance, distributed generation programs, and utility reliability initiatives. Responsibilities Support electric distribution reliability and maintenance programs. Assist with planning, tracking, and maintaining preventive maintenance inspection programs. Maintain inspection records, work orders, and technical documentation. Perform safety, security, and regulatory inspections in accordance with established procedures. Analyze operational and reliability data to support maintenance and improvement initiatives. Review and process customer interconnection applications. Perform initial technical reviews of Level I interconnection requests, including one-line diagrams and equipment specifications. Coordinate higher-level technical reviews with engineering teams. Track application status, project milestones, and regulatory timelines. Serve as a liaison between customers, contractors, installers, engineering teams, and field operations. Assist with budgeting, project tracking, and reliability improvement initiatives. Generate reports and maintain databases related to system reliability and interconnection activities. Support customer inquiries regarding electric service, reliability, and distributed generation requirements. Participate in storm restoration and emergency response activities when required. Travel to company facilities, training locations, and customer sites as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related discipline with 0โ€“1 years of experience; OR Associate Degree with 2โ€“3 years of related experience; OR High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of related utility, electrical, construction, or maintenance experience. Required Skills Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and utility operations. Understanding of electrical construction and maintenance practices. Ability to read and interpret: Electrical drawings Schematics One-line diagrams Technical manuals and procedures Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Utility industry experience. Experience with distributed generation, renewable energy, solar interconnections, or net metering programs. Experience using enterprise asset management, GIS, outage management, or work management systems. Experience with SAP, GIS, AutoCAD, reporting tools, or database applications. Additional Requirements Valid driver's license required. Personal vehicle required for travel between facilities and customer locations. Ability to work a hybrid schedule with regular onsite attendance. Ability to support emergency and storm restoration efforts when necessary.
