Buffalo Trace Distillery is an American family-owned company based in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky. The Distillery's rich tradition dates back to 1773 and includes such legends as E.H. Taylor, Jr., George T. Stagg, Albert B. Blanton, Orville Schupp, and Elmer T. Lee. 

Buffalo Trace Distillery is a fully operational Distillery producing bourbon, rye and vodka on site and is a National Historic Landmark as well as is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Distillery has won 17 distillery titles since 2000 from such notable publications as Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate Magazine and Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Buffalo Trace Distillery is seeking applicants for Controls Technician to join our team in Frankfort, KY, this is a night shift position, with a starting salary of $37.06 per hour. Night shift is 6pm-6am on a rotating 2,2,3 schedule.

Primary responsibilities include (however may not be limited to):

  • Skilled performance of all plant electrical duties including PLC & MCC installation and maintenance
  • Ensure PLCs, robots, and any additional automation is functioning as expected
  • Read electrical schematics
  • Possess ability to install, trouble-shoot and maintain conduit wire, motors and electrical equipment on 240-volt, 3 phase and 440-volt systems
  • Ability to install variable speed drives and troubleshoot electronic control systems including electric eyes and relays
  • Ability to program A.B. programmable logic controls.
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, adjust, clean and maintain machinery, equipment, fixtures, piping and plumbing systems, etc. 
  • Read blueprints, manuals, drawings, computer screens, sketches and/or oral instructions

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in industrial automation
  • A record of successful maintenance experience with a mastery of skills needed to perform everyday maintenance tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing facility
  • Hands-on experience with electrical, PLC programming and hardware, and equipment troubleshooting
  • Ability/Willingness to work second or third shift
  • Successful candidates will be required to receive acceptable scores on several tests including mechanical and electrical aptitude exams, pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol screening
  • Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and problem solving abilities
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to perform work with high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and ladder logic
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent safety and attendance records
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance or Journeyman Electrician
  • Manufacturing systems experience
  • Rockwell Automation Controls training
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming experience
