Job description

Convergentz, a division of Hunton Group, has a new and exciting opportunity for you to join our organization as a Building Automation System (BAS) Controls Programmer. Selected candidate will be responsible for installation, diagnoses, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning of environmental-comfort systems, utilizing knowledge of air conditioning theory, hydronic theory, and modern control techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a laptop computer, a variety of hand tools, and follow blueprints or engineering specifications to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
  • Create software programs and animated front-end graphics.
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair instruments and products at a customer's location.
  • Perform service repairs, modifications, adjustments, and calibration on control systems as needed or requested by customers.
  • Perform checkout, start-up, and commissioning on projects.
  • Prepare for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
  • Install and service products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain equipment by inspecting for signs of wear (maladjustment, miscalibration, malfunction, and drift).
  • Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
  • Support HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and offering guidance.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Niagara/Tridium controls experience required.
  • N4 Certification preferred.
  • Distech controls experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Must be able to interpret a sequence of operations and translate into functional programming.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient computer and network skills required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Able to travel locally as required and at times out of town.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in HVAC, Computer Science, or a computer science-related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of field technical programming experience in Niagara/Tridium, Distech, or HVAC-related controls systems.
