Job Summary
The Trailer and Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing company-wide trailer scheduling, delivery, and dispatch operations across multiple regions. This includes negotiating, managing, and forecasting the movement of empty and loaded trailers between markets, maintaining visibility of trailer inventory, and ensuring timely delivery to and from retail locations, warehouses, and donation centers. The role also provides leadership and oversight to the dispatch teams in each region, ensuring consistent communication with drivers and donors, efficient routing, and adherence to safety and service standards. The Trailer and Dispatch Manager will work closely with regional and local transportation leadership to align trailer logistics and dispatch performance with company goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of trailer scheduling, allocation, and movement across regions to ensure efficient utilization and timely deliveries.
  • Manage dispatch operations across multiple locations, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and professionalism in all donor and driver interactions.
  • Supervise Lead Dispatchers and provide direction, training, and support to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain visibility and reporting of trailer levels, locations, and condition across all markets.
  • Collaborate with regional and local leadership to coordinate trailer needs for donation centers, retail stores, and outbound shipping.
  • Analyze dispatch and trailer data to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost reduction, and service improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, DOT, and company standards in daily operations.
  • Support the implementation of new systems, tools, and processes related to trailer management and dispatching.
  • Attend leadership and operations meetings to align on priorities, performance, and planning.
  • Represent the organization's mission and service standards through effective leadership, communication, and professionalism.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in trailer logistics, dispatch operations, or fleet management preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing multi-site or remote teams.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities with a focus on operational execution.
  • Proficiency in dispatch or fleet management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet operational needs.
  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in logistics or transportation management preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or dispatch station.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally to move office materials or assist with trailer inspections.
  • Occasional exposure to warehouse or yard environments requiring walking on uneven surfaces or in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel between markets or dispatch centers as needed.
  • Must maintain visual and auditory acuity to communicate effectively and review dispatch and trailer data accurately.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to dispatch centers, warehouses, and field locations as needed.
