About the Role & Program

KGO-TV (ABC7) is the #1 source for breaking news, weather, sports and more around the San Francisco Bay Area! We want to help make our region an even better place to live. So we dedicate more time, resources, and reporting to the major stories that impact your quality of life. From housing, to schools, climate change and the economy, ABC7's goal is to bring you greater perspective on the challenges facing our neighborhoods right now. We promise to dig deeper and find solutions to help Build a Better Bay Area.

You will learn aspects of broadcast television and digital production skills, with a focus on video, audio, photography, writing and design for marketing, community engagement, and news content.You'll work with other teams on various projects throughout the internship, including News, Programming, Sales, and President/General Manager's office.

The approximate dates of this internship are mid-August 2026 through mid-December 2026.

What You Will Do

  • During first 30 days: Learn, connect and understand the company's mission and learn the production workflow in order to contribute to content creation
  • By month three: Support content producers, assist in the field and at events, write copy for digital platforms
  • By month six: Produce content with supervision, identify areas where you could bring a new perspective
  • On an ongoing basis: Lead and develop ideas with ABC7's NextGen Youth Advisory Council

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with creating content on a variety of social media platforms, as well as using social media platforms to engage with an audience
  • Experience or completed coursework in community engagement, corporate social responsibility, or a related area

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in video production, filming and editing video and/or with working with Adobe Premiere or similar software
  • Previous experience (academic or internship) in digital media and/or journalism (broadcast/print/digital)

Education

  • Junior or Senior year preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
  • Be at least 18 years ofage
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program

Additional Information

  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • The approximate dates ofthis internship are mid-August 2026 through mid-December 2026
  • Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the San Francisco, California area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $22.50 per hour.
