Job description

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation is a legendary brand with offices across the globe. An American icon, Fender was born in Southern California and has built a worldwide influence extending beyond the studio and the stage. A Fender is more than an instrument, it's a cultural symbol that resonates globally.
Within FMIC's eCommerce team, we're redefining how customers discover, shop, and experience our brands online, and building the DTC channel into a meaningful growth engine for the business.
We're looking for a Sr. Manager, eCommerce Merchandising to run onsite merchandising across Fender.com, Jackson.com, and PreSonus.com, owning how product is presented, found, and sold every day. You'll set the merchandising standards, run the promotional calendar, lead new product launches on-site, and use behavioral data to make the storefront convert better week over week. You'll do this as a player-coach, leading a small team while staying close to the work yourself.
Essential Functions
Merchandising Strategy & Site Experience
  • Own how product is presented site-wide: visual merchandising standards, page templates, and content hierarchy that translate Fender's brand identity into a storefront that converts.
  • Own browse and discovery end to end: category taxonomy, navigation, on-site search relevance, sort logic, and category-page curation, so the right product is easy to find at the right moment.
  • Manage catalog quality and product data as it drives merchandising: attribution, imagery, sequencing, and completeness across the catalog.
  • Ensure desktop and mobile experiences hold a consistent, premium standard across all three brand sites.

Go-to-Market, Promotions & Inventory Planning
  • Build and execute the promotional calendar for Fender.com: managing the cadence, recommending offer strategy and mechanics, and delivering flawless on-site execution against DTC activation plans.
  • Lead on-site go-to-market for new product launches and campaigns: merchandising placement, landing experiences, launch-day readiness, and post-launch optimization.
  • Define merchandising content requirements and brief Marketing on photography and rich media needs, so creative output supports how product actually sells online.
  • Partner with the VP, eCommerce and the eCommerce Optimization Manager on sales plans that meet revenue objectives.
  • Support inventory planning and forecasting for new launches, and execute Web Reserved Inventory allocation so priority products are in stock and merchandised to hit revenue and margin goals.

Consumer Insight & Merchandising Optimization
  • Build an evidence-based understanding of the Fender shopper using heatmapping, clickmapping, session replay, and behavioral analytics: where they navigate, where they hesitate, what converts, and turn those signals into merchandising action.
  • Optimize listings, cross-sell, upsell, and recommendation surfaces to drive conversion, attach rate, and AOV.
  • Factor SEO and AEO into merchandising decisions, supporting discoverability across traditional search and the AI and answer engines that increasingly shape product discovery.
  • Benchmark competitor sites and merchandising tactics to anticipate shifts in shopper expectations.
  • Support the personalization and guided-selling roadmap as it develops, including input on current tooling and future needs.

Team Leadership & Global Partnership
  • Grow and develop a high-performance team of data-driven merchandisers.
  • Coordinate with global eCommerce counterparts in EMEA and APAC on merchandising standards and shared calendar moments, ensuring a consistent but locally relevant brand experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of Digital Merchandising, Marketing and/or eCommerce experience.
  • 7+ years of experience on a major eCommerce platform (Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Magento, BigCommerce, or similar); experience with Shopify a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Product Information Management as it relates to digital merchandising.
  • Strong analytics instincts, with hands-on experience in two or more of: Amplitude, ContentSquare (or comparable heatmapping/session-replay tools), Google Analytics, Segment, Tableau.
  • Experience owning promotional planning and on-site execution.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, AEO, and content best practices a plus.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Experience owning promotional planning and execution; familiarity with demand forecasting, inventory planning, or reserved-inventory management a plus.
  • Background in high consideration products preferred; a musical background is a plus.
