JOB SUMMARY
This position is located in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Adjudication Services Administration within the District of Columbia (D.C.). The mission of the DMV is to promote the safe operation of motor vehicles and public safety while providing outstanding customer service. Incumbent performs customer transactions, including vehicle titles, registration and tags, operator permits, non-driver identification and driver records residential and reciprocity parking permits, tickets processing, hearing scheduling and appeals services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the hearing examiners' unit and is expected to work in consultation with the Chief Hearing Examiner, other Supervisory Hearing Examiners and the Hearing Support Manager to ensure that hearing activities run effectively and efficiently. Provides feedback to hearing examiners on their performance, conducts performance reviews, administers counseling, corrective action and other disciplinary actions. Reviews hearing records for compliance with the Administrative Procedures Act, Traffic Adjudication Act, DC Municipal Regulations, and DMV policies.
Plans, directs, and assigns work to hearing examiners, sets priorities and prepares schedules for the completion of work by the hearing examiners. Provides guidance to subordinate staff in the interpretation of policy and procedures, and for determining the approach to be taken and the methodology to be used in performing their work. Resolves technical problems encountered by staff.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one(1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in a normal office setting. The work is primarily sedentary, however, there may be walking or standing.

Collective Bargaining Unit (NON-UNION): This position is not in a collective bargaining unit.
Duration of Appointment: Management Supervisory Service (MSS): At-will employment applies to the MSS. All positions and appointments in the MSS serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and may be terminated at any time with or without cause.
Position Designation: The incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability Security Sensitive.
Residency Requirement: If the position you are applying for is in the Career, Management Supervisory, or Educational Service at an annual salary of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) or more, you must establish residency in the District of Columbia within one hundred eighty (180) days of the effective date of the appointment and continue to maintain residency within the District of Columbia throughout the duration of the appointment.
