What does a director do?

Directors are high-level executives responsible for overseeing a department, division, or entire organization. Directors often collaborate with other senior leaders, manage budgets, and lead decision-making processes. Their leadership is crucial for driving growth, maintaining operational efficiency, and fostering a positive organizational culture.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director, you need strategic leadership, business acumen, and a proven track record in management, often supported by an advanced degree such as an MBA. This dual focus allows Directors to drive both immediate results and sustainable growth.

About the Opportunity

Implement4 is a specialized recruitment partner supporting growth-focused organizations in the restoration industry. We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-capitalized, multi-market operator seeking a Project Director to lead large-loss restoration and reconstruction projects. This organization is scaling aggressively and requires strong operational leadership to drive performance on complex, high-value projects.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Director to lead large-scale restoration and reconstruction projects, typically ranging from high six-figure to multi-million-dollar losses. This individual will own the full lifecycle of complex projects while driving operational excellence, financial performance, and client satisfaction. This role operates within a high-accountability environment built on disciplined execution, speed, and scalable processes.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  1. Own the Outcome
    • Take full responsibility for large-loss projects from initial response through closeout.
    • Drive project strategy across mitigation and reconstruction.
    • Deliver projects on time, on budget, and at target margin.
  2. Always Be Driving Revenue
    • While not a pure sales role, you are embedded in the revenue process.
    • Build and maintain relationships with carriers, consultants, and clients.
    • Identify opportunities for additional scope, change orders, and future work.
  3. Execute with Speed and Urgency
    • Start jobs quickly and push projects to completion without delays.
    • Remove bottlenecks and keep all stakeholders aligned on timelines.
    • Lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, especially during CAT events.
  4. Build World-Class Documentation & Process Discipline
    • Ensure all project documentation is thorough, accurate, and defensible.
    • Drive consistency in estimating, reporting, and file management.
    • Enforce operational standards across all phases of the project.
  5. Deliver an Exceptional Client Experience
    • Own the client relationship from start to finish.
    • Ensure high satisfaction, clear communication, and strong outcomes.
    • Drive repeat business and referral opportunities on every project.
  6. Lead and Scale Teams
    • Direct Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams.
    • Hold teams accountable to performance, timelines, and standards.
    • Help build scalable processes that can be replicated across markets.
What You Bring
  • 7โ€“10+ years in restoration/construction with large-loss project experience.
  • Proven track record managing $500Kโ€“$5M+ projects.
  • Advanced estimating experience (Xactimate or equivalent).
  • High level of financial acumen (budgeting, margin control, forecasting).
  • Leadership experience managing multiple teams and complex workflows.
  • Strong communication skills with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate with urgency, accountability, and structure.
Whatโ€™s Offered
  • Competitive base + strong performance incentives.
  • Full benefits package.
  • Vehicle or allowance.
  • High-impact leadership role with visibility across large projects.
  • Opportunity to support the growth of a multi-market platform.
Ideal Profile

This is a high-output, execution-driven leadership role. The right individual thrives in environments where speed, accountability, and results matter. They bring structure to complexity, lead from the front, and consistently deliver strong financial and operational outcomes on large, demanding projects.
