Major Functions
The Clinical Assistant to the Medical Director is a highly responsible administrative position involved in the management and oversight of the emergency medical services system. This position is tasked with activities including, but not limited to, quality assurance review and workflow management; medical and non-medical records management and security; development and delivery of education based upon quality assurance findings and physician direction.
Illustrative Duties

  • Accumulates/gathers data and analyzes the data to identify inconsistencies, deviations, or other irregularities in a scientific manner.
  • Reads and comprehends documents, including medical as well as cardiac monitor information, and extrapolate from those records whether the author adhered to or deviated from local protocols and acceptable medical standards.
  • Designs, develops, and executes a plan to address deficiencies utilizing an independent approach for isolated problems or utilizing a broad approach to systemic problems.
  • Collaborate with the county medical director/designee, and other system stakeholders to identify objectives and collaborate to improve system effectiveness.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and conduct training exercises for large groups.
  • May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
  • Attends work on a tegular and consistent basis.
  • Must adhere to Federal, state, county, and local ordinances.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Seven (7) years of clinical experience in an emergency medical setting, experience as a paramedic in an advanced life support system providing prehospital response or clinical experience equivalent in an emergency care setting. Two (2) of the seven (7) years to include experience in a supervisory or training/mentoring role in which interacting with subordinates was routine.
OR
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of clinical experience in an emergency medical setting, or three (3) years of experience as a paramedic in an advanced life support system providing prehospital response or clinical experience equivalent in an emergency care setting. Two (2) of the three (3) years to include experience in a supervisory or training/mentoring role in which interacting with subordinates was routine.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license at time of hire.
Must possess a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
The preferred candidate, having met the requirements, will have experience with quality assurance/improvement projects; and will have recent experience (i.e., within 90 days prior to this job posting) working as an emergency care provider.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
• Knowledge of the constraints, processes, and laws in handling protected health information (PHI).
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies specific to all facets of emergency medical services delivery.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and prioritize to address and resolve deficiencies or problems.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, to groups and individuals.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to read and comprehend medical reports and documents and extrapolate medical information/procedures.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Ability to interact effectively with others.
ADA Requirements:
Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Ability to see, hear, talk. Visual acuity (peripheral vision and depth perception) is necessary to operate a motorized vehicle. Finger dexterity. Ability to lift 20 pounds.

Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend professional manuals, legal documents, ordinances, statutes; instructions, reports, abstracts, financial reports, letters, and summaries. Ability to write reports, evaluations, summaries, letters, financial reports, procedures, and policies. Ability to perform advanced mathematical functions. Ability to speak publicly and extemporaneously, conversant in policies, techniques, and procedures of discipline. Ability to analyze data and develop conclusions. Ability to identify and resolve problems.
