Description

The Director of Unmanned Systems provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for Oak Grove Technologiesโ€™ (OGT) unmanned systems programs, driving innovation, capability development, portfolio growth, and operational excellence across the companyโ€™s defense and federal portfolios. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of unmanned systems operations, integration, training, and sustainment to ensure mission success in support of Department of War (DoW), Special Operations Forces (SOF), and other clients.

As a leader within the organization, the Director of Unmanned Systems oversees program execution, leads cross-functional teams, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to expand OGTโ€™s presence in the unmanned and emerging technology sectors. The position requires a combination of technical expertise, operational experience, and strategic vision to shape and grow OGTโ€™s unmanned systems capabilities in a rapidly evolving defense environment.

Requirements Key Responsibilities
  • Provide executive oversight and direction for all unmanned systems operations, training, and sustainment programs across OGTโ€™s defense and federal contracts.
  • Manage program performance, ensuring delivery of mission-critical services and compliance with all contract, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead Capture and Win efforts across the entire spectrum โ€“ Business Development, Capture, Proposal Management, and Execution to grow the portfolio.
  • Lead technical and operational planning for unmanned systems integration, testing, and deployment across various mission sets.
  • Collaborate with DoW, SOF, and industry partners to identify emerging technologies and capability gaps that align with OGTโ€™s strategic objectives.
  • Partner with Business Development, Capture, and Proposal teams to pursue new opportunities and develop winning solutions in the unmanned systems domain.
  • Supervise program and technical staff, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and data management standards for unmanned operations.
  • Monitor federal policy, acquisition trends, and innovation initiatives impacting unmanned systems and emerging technologies.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure efficient, cost-effective program delivery.
  • Coordinate with Contracts, Finance, HR, and Security teams to ensure program readiness and compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Represent OGT at industry events, working groups, and client engagements to promote organizational capabilities and partnerships in the unmanned systems sector.
  • Lead efforts to integrate unmanned technologies with OGTโ€™s broader defense, intelligence, and training services.
  • Oversee the infrastructure and facilities tied to the unmanned systems division at the Test & Training Center; collaborate with OGT personnel on any infrastructure changes, updates, etc.
Qualifications Education & Certifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Aviation Technology, Aerospace Systems, Defense Studies, or a related field (required).
  • Masterโ€™s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Certifications such as FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot, DAWIA Program Management, or relevant DoW acquisition or engineering credentials (preferred).
Experience
  • 10โ€“15 years of experience in unmanned systems, aviation operations, or defense technology programs, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing DoW or SOF unmanned systems programs, including operations, logistics, or training.
  • Demonstrated success in program management, contract execution, and team leadership within a federal contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of FAR/DFARS, NIST, and defense acquisition compliance standards.
  • Experience with UAS integration, sensor payloads, and data management systems.
Skills & Competencies
  • Deep technical knowledge of UAS technologies, platforms, and mission applications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strategic thinker with proven business acumen and problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition programs, RDT&E, and technology transition processes.
  • Ability to engage effectively with senior government officials, industry partners, and clients.
  • Active Secret โ€“ eligible for Top Secret - Security Clearance.
