The Operational Excellence Strategic Consultant Director Senior is a key contributor within the Chief of Staff Office to the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO). This role drives operational rigor, continuous improvement, and strategic execution across Digital, Data, Technology, and Cyber domains. The position blends operational management expertise, technology fluency, and structured consulting skills to help the CDIO organization optimize performance, enhance delivery effectiveness, and execute against enterprise digital strategy.
This role will partner closely with CDIO leaders and cross-functional teams to diagnose operational challenges, implement standardized operating mechanisms, drive efficiency, and improve the maturity of digital and technology operations. The Operational Excellence Strategic Consultant Senior Director also supports long-range planning, strategic initiatives, and executive storytelling-ensuring complex operational insights are translated into clear, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders, ASC members, and leadership teams.
How you will make an impact:
  • Develops, enhances, and maintains operating systems, performance routines, and decision frameworks for the CDIO organization.
  • Responsible for leading larger engagement teams and high value, complex, enterprise-wide level programs or projects that cross multiple business, addressing difficult challenges with both known and unknown solutions, while applying Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement techniques to streamline processes and improve outcomes.
  • Leads teams in conceiving, shaping, refining and prioritizing enterprise wide initiatives and innovation opportunities, ensuring alignment with operational scorecards, KPI reviews, and OKR tracking to drive performance accountability.
  • Provides and grows technical knowledge and subject matter expertise while supporting resource planning, capacity management, agile delivery performance, and prioritization processes across portfolios.
  • Accountable for initiative planning and supports strategic planning, operating model updates, and capability assessments with data-driven decision making.
  • Manages a portfolio of strategic initiatives and high value projects, managing resources, leading cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring alignment to priorities and key milestone progressions.
  • Leads market analyses initiatives targeted to driving growth; develops or manages complex financial and investment models, and participates in or oversees the preparation of ROI analyses for senior management, while conducting market and competitive analyses related to digital trends and technology optimization.
  • Demonstrates thought leadership, innovative tendencies, and an ability to execute on strategy through seasoned relationship building and communication acumen, including positive executive level interaction experiences and effectively translating complex insights into executive-ready storylines.
  • Provides engagement/project oversight, establishes and reports on key metrics and measurements, and offers continuous improvement coaching, guidance, and mentoring to team members while facilitating tiered huddles and rapid improvement activities.
  • Facilitates large cross-functional working sessions or meetings to align strategy and plan while functioning as an internal consultant to leadership, employing structured problem-solving techniques and hypothesis development.
  • Plays a key role in driving enterprise-wide corporate strategy and innovation initiatives as well as short and long-range planning processes, designing and maintaining visual management tools for real-time operational insight.
  • Partners with finance and business units to align investment decisions to operational performance data and enterprise strategy.

Minimum Requirements:
Requires BA/BS in a related field and minimum of 6 years experience in management consulting, change management, large scale project management and/or process improvement leadership; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:
  • Experience in digital, technology, IT service management or cyber operations strongly preferred.
  • Strong operational management background, ideally in Digital, IT, Data, or Cyber environments strongly preferred.
  • Deep experience applying Lean, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies to optimize technology and business operations preferred.
  • Management consulting or advisory experience with ability to translate complex operational insights into powerful executive narratives preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills with executive presence preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, manage multiple complex initiatives, and navigate fast-paced technology environments preferred.
  • Expert-level communication, presentation, and visualization skills preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred, but not required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
