Substitute Teaching Application Process
1. Applicants who do not hold a current GA teaching or paraprofessional certificate are required to complete the online training provided by HGRESA which includes the following procedures:


Watch a video, read articles, submit a completer form, and take a quiz. You must make a score of 100, but you can retake the quiz. The link for the self-paced training is found on the HGRESA website at hgresa.org. Search for Professional Learning and select 210, CODE, Substitute Teacher Training.

2. Complete the Dublin City School's Substitute Application online including the following:

  •  Provide Dublin City Schools with a copy of the Heart of Georgia RESA Substitute Teacher registration form (upload with your application).
  • Provide a valid email address for three supervisors from your three most recent employers and/or email addresses for persons who are not family members.
  • Upload a copy of your college transcript, high school diploma, or GED certificate.
  • Upload a copy of your Georgia teaching or paraprofessional certificate, if applicable.
  • Upload a copy of the signed GBI Privacy Rights statement form

3. Applicants must be fingerprinted and have a clear background check in order to be placed on our Substitute List for board approval.  Instructions for getting fingerprinted are on our webpage and are linked here.

4. Lastly, in order for your application to be complete, please ensure you have completed all the steps listed.
For the 2023-2024 school year, the daily rate of pay for a substitute teacher is $85.
