Job description


Position Description:
Oversees, guides, and participates in the design, development, and maintenance of digital assets systems, using Java programming. Builds enterprise-grade systems that handle large-scale, secure, and efficient operations. Develops, designs, and evolves integrations and Agile modules, using Java, Representational State Transfer (RESTful) Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), gRPC APIs, and Spring Boot. Improves application data management in Cloud Formation frameworks, using Cloud technologies and containerization tools -- Kubernetes. Provides Agile software development support. Develops Restful APIs, application features, and architecture designs. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications. Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit and participates in the research and recommendation of appropriate models, methods, tools, and technologies to achieve business-unit-wide solutions.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Translates and incorporates business vision and strategy to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.
  • Participates in high-level, cross-functional architecture design teams.
  • Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.
  • Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.
  • Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.
  • Consults on the documentation of major technology application.
  • Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.
  • Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.
  • Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.
  • Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.
  • Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Researches and recommends new technologies.
  • Works across groups to identify opportunities for organization-wide technology initiatives.
  • Regularly provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.
  • Identifies and plans for future resource needs.
  • Determines technical approaches at a strategic level for the business unit.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) performing analysis, design, implementation, and testing of Client/Server and Web-based financial applications, using Java and Spring Boot, according to Object-Oriented Programming methodologies.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Software Engineering (or closely related occupation) performing analysis, design, implementation, and testing of Client/Server and Web-based financial applications, using Java and Spring Boot, according to Object-Oriented Programming methodologies.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") designing and developing generic test framework in Java to run daily and hourly batch jobs to process daily transactions; and writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures to calculate and update customer portfolios, using Spring Batch and Spring Boot; and developing and running Spring Batch jobs in Control-M.
  • DE implementing and integrating Apache Kafka for message production and consumption across multiple platforms, using Spring Boot; and implementing Redis caching techniques to load/upload data from relational database (Oracle) and NoSQL database systems (MongoDB) for faster read and processing.
  • DE building and managing micro-services -- performing domain and policy modeling and building APIs - using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Kubernetes, Java 15, Spring Boot, and Jenkins; detailing APIs in API documentation frameworks (Swagger); testing microservices in Junit, Mockito, and Spring Test frameworks; and deploying Web applications, using Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) tool - Jenkins.
  • DE implementing type-ahead/auto-suggest configuration, spell check, and synonym search configuration, and performing microservices integration, using Spring Boot in Elastic and LucidWorks Fusion search engines.

Salary: $176,550.00 - $194,000.00/year.
