About Your role:

As Director Software Development, you will lead engineering, data, and machine learning teams responsible for building and scaling Fiserv's Digital Onboarding, Customer Decisioning, and Personalization platforms. You will drive strategy, architecture, and delivery across backend engineering, data platforms, machine learning, MLOps, and AI-enabled development practices.

This role requires a hands-on technology leader who can balance people leadership, architecture oversight, and strategic execution while leading a team of 15+ associates and contractors.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead engineering, data, and AI teams supporting Digital Onboarding and customer decisioning platforms.

  • Define architecture and technology strategy for backend services, data platforms, machine learning solutions, and AI-enabled capabilities.

  • Drive development of cloud-native applications using Java, Python, AWS, and modern microservices architectures.

  • Lead data engineering initiatives including data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and analytics platforms.

  • Establish and scale MLOps practices including model lifecycle management, feature engineering, monitoring, governance, and deployment automation.

  • Drive adoption of Agentic SDLC and AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity and software quality.

  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Business stakeholders to deliver personalization, recommendation, and offer optimization capabilities.

  • Mentor engineering leaders and build a high-performing culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage technology roadmaps, vendor relationships, and resource planning across multiple initiatives.

Experience You'll Need to Have:

  • 12+ years of experience designing and delivering enterprise software solutions using Java and Python.

  • 8+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, data engineering, and machine learning teams.

  • Experience leading organizations of 15+ associates, contractors, and vendor resources.

  • Deep expertise with AWS services including SageMaker, Glue, S3, Lambda, ECS/EKS, and cloud-native development.

  • Strong experience with Snowflake, data architecture, data modeling, and large-scale data platforms.

  • Experience building data pipelines, ETL frameworks, and data integration solutions using AWS Glue and Qlik Data Integration.

  • Proven experience implementing machine learning platforms and enterprise MLOps capabilities.

  • Experience driving Agentic Engineering, AI-assisted development, and modern software delivery practices.

  • Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technology and business leaders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).

Experience That Would Be Great to Have:

  • Experience with Digital Onboarding, Customer Acquisition, Identity Verification, or Account Opening solutions.

  • Experience building recommendation engines, personalization platforms, or real-time decisioning systems.

  • Experience with Generative AI, AI agents, Agentic workflows, RAG architectures, and LLM-powered applications.

  • Experience within financial services, fintech, banking, or payments organizations.

  • AWS Professional, Machine Learning, or Data Analytics certifications.

Important information about this role:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
