Position Overview:

The Director of the Office of Student Involvement is responsible for the oversight of a department that provides a variety of programming, leadership development, and support of over 70+ student organizations and fraternity and sorority life. With this individual’s leadership and strategic planning, this department will provide meaningful co-curricular opportunities for students to engage in activities that cultivate involvement, leadership development, and self-exploration. These involvement opportunities will build community and connection, contributing to a sense of belonging for all. The leader of this office will work to connect department goals and objectives to the overall mission of Merrimack College to enlighten minds, engage hearts and empower lives.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, oversight, strategic planning, and management for the Office of Student Involvement and its mission to engage students, while providing excellent service and support for student leaders, student organizations, fraternity and sorority members, and their roles within the campus community.

  • Provide leadership in the financial management of the department and student organizations. Review and monitor budget accounts, oversee financial transactions for student organizations, and develop systems to monitor expenditures.

  • Supervise professional staff, graduate fellows, and student employees within the Office of Student Involvement.

  • Oversee the creation, promotion, and execution of large-scale programming initiatives that spur student connection and engagement.

  • Oversee the management and support of student clubs and organizations and fraternity and sorority life.

  • Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive student leadership development program grounded in student development theory and leadership best practices.

  • In conjunction with a graduate fellow, advise our nationally recognized leadership organizations.

  • Serve as the primary advisor to the Student Government Association, providing guidance on governance, policy development, budgeting, strategic planning, event planning, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Manage the student engagement platform Warrior Network and serve as department liaison for space booking software, EMS.

  • Collaborate with campus partners in coordinating an annual campus wide programming calendar to ensure offerings are varied, appropriate, and help build students a sense of belonging and community.

  • Serve on campus committees as assigned.

  • Participate as a member of the Student Affairs division in campus wide events such as commencement, orientation, move-in, and others as assigned throughout the year.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or a related field required. Minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in Student Involvement preferred.


Experience

  • Previous work in high traffic, customer service environment
