Job description

America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Supervise and coordinate activities of slot department workers to provide service to patrons. Handle and settle complaints of players. Verify and pay off jackpots. Reset slot machines after payoffs. Make repairs or adjustments to slot machines or recommend removal of slot machines for repair. Report hazards and enforce safety rules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and maintains customer loyalty.
  • Safeguard the confidential information of all team members, department and company records and assets.
  • Assists with the monitoring, directing, supervising, and observing slot activities for adherence to company policies and various gaming regulatory requirements.
  • Arbitrates customer disputes from slot play.
  • Assists the Slot Manager and Sr. Director of Slot Operations in the hiring, training, evaluation, monitoring, and scheduling of slot personnel.
  • Implement slot policies and procedures established by the Sr. Director of Slot Operations and Slot Manager.
  • Approves and verifies slot machine payouts.
  • Performs jackpot payouts.
  • Perform all other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years or older. Must be able to obtain a Gaming and Racing License from Louisiana Racing Commission.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

3-5 years of experience. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from team members, regulatory agencies, or members of the staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations about the implementation of current duties. The ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables.

Office/Casino environment; Subject to outdoor temperature; Exposed to smoke, bright lights and noise at times. The work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level. Will occasionally work in extreme heat or cold conditions.
