About the role 

The Director, Trade Marketing will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing innovative marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and drive commercial success across Sephora's key markets in the United States, Canada, and SWAK. This dynamic position requires a strategic thinker with a keen understanding of the retail landscape, an ability to collaborate across departments, and a passion for delivering compelling brand experiences. Working closely with cross-functional teams, retailer partners, and internal stakeholders, this role ensures that trade marketing programs are executed seamlessly, maximizing impact and consumer engagement.
 

As a Director, Trade Marketing you will 

Market Meetings & Strategic Alignment

  • Own holistic retailer marketing perspective for leadership & cross functional management level with feed in from account owners.
  • Lead overarching account Sephora strategy, including In-The-Kitchen sessions mapping out product priorities, key bets, exclusives and key marketing levers.
  • Lead market meetings with Sephora and internal teams, developing the strategic framework of meeting materials, providing thought leadership and actionable insights.
  • Deliver comprehensive performance recaps, identifying opportunities for growth, optimization, and strategic pivots.
  • Lead budget inputs & strategy inputs - alignment on top-down commercial, brand, and media needs across all accounts.

Retailer Co-Op Media

  • Partner closely with Director of Retail Media, to ensure alignment with overarching account objectives.

PR, Influencer and Social Ideation

  • Liaison between Commercial team & PR/Influencer team on Sephora support needs
  • Responsible for partnering with Influencer team on Sephora FY strategy for all mailers and higher-level influencer content needs tying back to key launches
  • Manage budget for all Sephora mailers and PR boxes.
  • Liaison between Brand Marketing team on all needs for Sephora exclusive social content.
  • Manage FY social calendar content requests driving to Sephora.

Sampling Programs & Forecasting Leadership

  • Oversee the development and execution of sampling initiatives to enhance product exposure and consumer engagement - Inclusive of budget, strategy, monthly management, process improvement
  • Lead forecasting efforts to ensure accurate inventory planning, optimizing sampling strategies to maximize brand reach and conversion.
  • Manage ongoing Sephora sampling programs, refining processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Visual Merchandising (VM) Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and manage comprehensive VM briefs tailored to Sephora's retail environment, ensuring seamless alignment with brand storytelling and consumer appeal.
  • Work closely with the creative and retail teams to curate visually striking in-store displays that enhance shopper experience and product visibility.
  • Continuously assess merchandising strategies, adapting approaches based on performance insights and market trends.

Sephora Exclusive Product Sets Development

  • Lead the conceptualization, development, and execution of exclusive Sephora product sets, reinforcing brand differentiation within the retailer's ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with product development, marketing, and commercial teams to curate offerings that align with Sephora's unique consumer preferences.
  • Ensure timely and successful rollout of exclusive sets, integrating them into broader marketing and merchandising strategies.

  • 7+ years of related Marketing experience with beauty industry experience preferred.

  • Is resilient to change and thrives in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of market/consumer trends.
  • Strategic thinking with demonstrated business acumen and ability to develop recommendations based on data.
  • Ability to influence others, gaining support and buy-in towards a desired outcome.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-oriented with a strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong project management skills-candidate must be comfortable taking on new challenges, and roles to support a lean and growing team.
