Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant works closely with the Director of Finance and VP of Accounting to perform a variety of accounting functions, special projects, and the preparation of financial statements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists the Accounting team and with the execution of the monthly financial close process, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations (including bank account reconciliations), and other related duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the preparation of tax filings including sales tax, liquor tax, and annual information returns.
  • Assists in preparation of annual reports/licenses including alcohol license, business license, unclaimed Pari-Mutuel ticket remittance, etc.
  • Enters all invoices into the Accounts Payable module daily.
  • Enters all miscellaneous checks/deposits, bank transfers, tax payments etc. in Sage Accounting system and enters all Cage deposits into Sage weekly.
  • Reconciles Simulcast and Program Revenue daily.
  • Reconciles Simulcast Revenue to tote system and Cage daily (i.e. DAR).
  • Reconciles HHR Revenue to external reports and Cage daily (i.e. DAR).
  • Reconciles F amp;B Revenue per POS to Cage daily and sends cashier over/short reports.
  • Reconciles Kiosk/ATM Cash Activity daily.
  • Develops and maintains professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Ensures work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
  • Maintains professionalism and a friendly and approachable demeanor throughout the workday.
  • Is honest in all interactions and displays a high degree of integrity.
  • Works independently with little to no supervision or as part of a team is required.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
  • Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts; this includes day, swing, late-night, weekend, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid gaming/racing license.
