Job description

Join a leading industrial automation manufacturer as a Mechanical Design Engineer, developing custom robotic work cells and advanced automation systems for industrial customers. This is a hands-on design role offering ownership of projects from initial concept through detailed engineering, customer proposal support, and final implementation. Client Details Our client is a respected and growing manufacturer specialising in robotics, automation, and process equipment solutions for customers across a wide range of industrial sectors. With a strong reputation for engineering excellence and product innovation, the company partners with manufacturers to improve efficiency, productivity, and operational performance through advanced automation technologies. Operating within a stable and technically driven environment, the organization invests heavily in engineering resources, product development, and employee growth. Their collaborative culture encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork, providing engineers with the opportunity to work on complex custom projects while developing expertise in robotics, automation, machine design, and manufacturing technologies. Description As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing robotic work cells, custom automation systems, and industrial equipment from concept through completion. Working closely with customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing personnel, you will create innovative, cost-effective solutions while ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and project requirements. Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for robotic work cells and automation equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Perform engineering calculations, component sizing, and mechanical analysis to validate designs. Design pneumatic systems and select sensors, actuators, and related automation components. Support the preparation of customer proposals, technical documentation, and project specifications. Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and delivery schedules. Profile The ideal candidate will be a motivated Mechanical Engineer with experience designing industrial machinery, automation systems, or robotic equipment. You will possess strong 3D CAD skills, a solid engineering foundation, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. 3+ years of experience designing industrial automation equipment, machinery, or robotic systems. Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and engineering documentation practices. Experience with pneumatic systems, component selection, and machine design principles. Strong problem-solving, project management, and communication skills with a high attention to detail. Job Offer This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging automation and robotics projects within a growing engineering organisation. The successful candidate will gain exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, take ownership of meaningful projects, and build a long-term career within a collaborative and innovative environment. Exposure to advanced robotics, automation, and machine design projects. Significant project ownership and direct impact on product development.
