The Director of AI Governance Program Management is responsible for helping to drive the execution of the enterprise AI governance framework. This role leads the coordination of AI governance workstreams, ensuring alignment to risk and governance objectives while enabling consistent and measurable delivery across the AI portfolio.

This role will have a Remote or Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage AI governance workstreams, project plans, and stakeholder facilitation to ensure clear alignment to strategic priorities

  • Create and maintain project charters that articulate scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics for governance initiatives

  • Develop and maintain integrated roadmaps and project plans across governance capabilities

  • Coordinate execution across cross-functional teams (risk, technology, compliance, legal, etc.) to ensure delivery against milestones

  • Track and report on workstream status, including risks, dependencies, and key outcomes, to senior leadership and governance forums

  • Produce high-quality executive-level presentations and materials to support decision-making, status reporting, and governance council updates

  • Ensure program governance disciplines are in place, including prioritization, resource alignment, and structured reporting

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in program management roles

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, cross-functional enterprise programs in regulated environments (insurance experience preferred)

  • Strong understanding of AI governance frameworks, lifecycle processes, and enterprise risk management practices

  • Proven ability to establish and lead complex workstreams, define charters, and manage integrated roadmaps

  • Strong execution discipline, including tracking dependencies, risks, and deliverables across multiple initiatives

  • Experience producing executive-level reporting, including board-ready presentations and governance updates

  • Strong background in stakeholder management, including executive alignment and influence across senior leaders

  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, translating vision into executable plans

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$143,200 - $214,800
