We are looking for a skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our team, whose
mission is to design, build, and test prototype systems for future consumer VR and AR
experiences. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in driving development of novel manufacturing processes from concept to pilot-production to deliver reliable, high
performance hardware prototypes. The development of state-of-the-art processes and
prototypes will require the intersection of novel materials, mechanical, electrical, and software
fields. The successful candidate will possess experience with a wide variety of manufacturing
processes, be comfortable driving a team of engineers to rapidly develop and scale novel
manufacturing processes, and have the ability to work with a team of researchers with tolerance
for a high degree of ambiguity.
Responsibilities:
? Drive Manufacturing Engineering team, system integration activities, and DFx in a
cross-functional work environment to deliver reliable, high performance hardware
prototypes
? Scale state-of-the-art hardware prototypes from concept to pilot-production volumes
? Grow in-house manufacturing capabilities and manage external manufacturing
partnerships
? Raise the bar for manufacturing excellence and best practices by developing, and
continuously improving, processes and relationships which empower researchers and
design engineers to build increasingly complex systems
Required Qualifications:
? BS/MS degree in the fields of Mechatronics engineering, Mechanical engineering,
Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related area, or equivalent work
experience
? 8+ years of experience scaling processes to pilot-production or mass manufacture, and
implementing quality control procedures to resolve processing problems
? Experience with a wide variety of manufacturing techniques for robotics, soft wearable
devices, including textiles, polymer processing, electromechanical integration,
lamination, and adhesive bonding
? Experience designing and implementing process development plans, design of
experiments (DOE), establishing critical process parameters and quality control
strategies
? Project management skills with experience directing priorities to a cross-functional team
to meet schedule milestones and stakeholder requirements
Desired Qualifications:
? 10+ years working on early product manufacturing development
? Experience with design and/or production of robotic systems
? Experience with mass production of systems requiring multiple manufacturing processes
such as: miniature motorized mechanisms; soft goods cutting, laminating, and kitting;
active optical alignment, casting, molding, machining, electronics packaging, coatings,
additive manufacturing
? Experience in the domain of design for manufacturing, assembly, or reliability
? Experience with industry CAD software, such as NX or related programs
