Job description

The University of Rio Grande / Rio Grande Community College announces an immeidate opening in the School of Allied Health & Exercise Studies for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director position, at the Instructor rank, beginning the fall semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. In addition to Program Director duties, this position will teach a minimum of 30 load hours in the academic year and 9 load hours in the summer with advising duties.
Responsibilities:
The program director is responsible for:
  • The structure and daily operation of the program
  • The organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and effectiveness of program curricula
  • Ensuring the effectiveness of all clinical affiliates is maintained.
  • Providing instruction, evaluation of students, documentation of progress, and periodic review of course content

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Baccalaureate degree
  • Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered
  • Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • Prior teaching experience
