Job description

VP, Platform Product Management
Rapid7 is seeking a VP, Platform Product Management to define and execute the multi-year product strategy for our foundational cloud security platform. This leader will drive the evolution of our centralized platform capabilities-including identity, agentic AI services, data plane architecture, developer ecosystems, and shared cloud services-to maximize development velocity across all product lines. This role focuses on scaling high-performance product management teams, treating the platform as an internal and external product, and delivering a unified tech stack that powers next-generation cybersecurity operations.
About the Team
The Platform Product Management team builds the scalable frameworks, shared technical services, and centralized data infrastructure that power Rapid7's entire product portfolio. This team drives measurable business impact by accelerating engineering efficiency, unifying user experiences, and ensuring highly secure, reliable, and cost-optimized platform operations for our global customers.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Office, the VP, Platform Product Management, will lead the strategic roadmap, technical architectural alignment, and enterprise lifecycle execution of our core software platform.
Specifically, your focus will be to:
  • Architect the multi-year platform product vision and execution roadmaps, transforming disparate shared systems into a cohesive, developer-friendly platform ecosystem.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing product organization, developing technical platform leadership and building lasting organizational capability.
  • Synchronize core platform roadmaps and technical dependencies directly across all application business units to unlock massive engineering velocity.
  • Oversee the strategic management of shared infrastructure investments, cloud unit economics, and data architecture governance policies.
  • Establish data-driven operational metrics focused on platform adoption rates, developer API satisfaction, system uptime, and computing cost efficiencies.
  • Mitigate architecture deployment risks by introducing robust early-warning mechanisms for platform blockers, scalability constraints, and data privacy compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment initiatives across product boundaries to establish unified cloud-native platform frameworks, shared identity models, and consistent developer toolsets.

The skills and qualities you'll bring include
  • Demonstrated mastery in steering complex technical platform portfolios, infrastructure-as-a-product strategies, or centralized cloud service roadmaps within enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
  • Deep expertise implementing scalable identity systems, unified data plane architectures, developer-facing APIs, and cloud infrastructure cost-optimization strategies.
  • Experience with agentic AI in production
  • Ability to translate complex cloud infrastructure visions into structured, time-bound execution phases, turning high-level platform strategies into actionable technical milestones.
  • Absolute commitment to establishing clear engineering ownership parameters, joint team milestones, and transparent cross-functional delivery expectations.
  • Openness to driving deep technical and operational change, keeping decentralized product teams and engineering squads fully aligned to forward-looking platform standards.
  • Talent for making rapid, evidence-backed architectural trade-off decisions that maintain platform momentum while integrating varied business unit requirements.
  • Communication style that distills deep technical platform roadmaps and structural constraints into clear, motivating business rationale for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience cultivating a global engineering and product network across corporate boundaries to deliver integrated, scalable platform updates.
  • Diagnoses organizational and structural friction - across architecture, matrix relationships, and team dynamics - and adjusts leadership style and process levers to drive platform health at scale.
  • Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective success.

We know that the best ideas and solutions come from multi-dimensional teams. That's because these teams reflect a variety of backgrounds and professional experiences. If you are excited about this role and feel your experience can make an impact, please don't be shy - apply today.
