Mold Maintenance Engineer (Plastic Manufacturing) - PSC51925 

Pay: $70,000 - 120,000/ Year + Full Benefits

A global leader in plastic technologies specializing in mold and tooling asset management, is seeking a highly experienced and versatile Mold & Tooling Engineer to play a crucial role in ensuring the health, performance, and efficient management of our clients' mold and tooling assets. This position will involve conducting in-depth mold assessments at supplier locations, contributing to project management activities related to tooling maintenance and refurbishment, and acting as a key point of contact for suppliers and internal teams. This role requires a strong technical background in mold making and processing, excellent communication skills. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mold assessments at manufacturing supplier locations, including assisting or directing supplier mold technicians in disassembly and reassembly.
  • Perform visual inspections of molded components and the molds that produce them.
  • Generate detailed mold assessment reports and accurately input data into the mold management system.
  • Plan and execute business travel, communicate visit scopes to suppliers, and schedule on-site activities.
  • Prepare and lead mold assessment introduction and close-out meetings with suppliers.
  • Break down, evaluate, and assess molds to the component level across various molding disciplines (Injection Molding, Injection Blow Molding, Stretch Blow Molding, Injection Stretch Blow Molding, and Extrusion Blow Molding).
  • Identify and document the condition of critical mold components, ensuring they meet performance and product standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mold design, processing, and equipment.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, qualification) to understand their impact on mold health.
  • Inspect finished products to identify mold-related defects and inform maintenance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot mold problems, analyze data, and contribute to root cause analysis investigations.
  • Assess mold setup and processing parameters, identifying potential machine-related issues.
  • Document tooling performance and condition within the system.
  • Potentially manage or contribute to projects related to tooling work, including coordinating with tool shops and overseeing work order processes.
  • Act as a Point of Contact (POC) for suppliers, communicating on work requests, funding, and quality/processing issues.
  • Participate in engineering kickoff meetings for new mold and refurbishment projects.
  • Provide technical input and support to project management activities related to mold and tooling assets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience as a Journeyman Mold Maker, Mold Technician, or Mold Process Engineer within at least one of the following: Injection Molding, Stretch Blow Molding, Injection Blow Molding, or Extrusion Blow Molding
  • Comprehensive understanding of mold design, manufacturing, maintenance, and troubleshooting across various molding disciplines.
  • Experience in identifying defects related to mold design, process, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes relevant to mold making and part production.
  • Proven ability to evaluate and assess molds at a component level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information effectively.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Email, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with data entry software. 
  • Experience in documenting tooling performance and condition.
  • Experience in troubleshooting mold issues and contributing to root cause analysis.
  • Practical knowledge of mold setup and processing.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and tools is a plus.
