Overview:

Gilat DataPath is seeking a seasoned Sales Engineer supporting the Business Development team. Primary functions include all levels of Pre-Sales engineering support and opportunity analysis.  The candidate must be able to support the sales/capture team during each level of proposal stages, including receipt of a customer’s request through the final submittal of the proposal including a working knowledge of financial metrics.  The candidate has to be capable of gathering customer requirements, shaping customer requirements, performing analysis for all systems aspects and able to analyze link performance to optimize antenna apertures and define RF subsystem requirements in order to develop a winning solution. Additionally, candidate must be able to provide technical expertise and Technical Volume proposal content on large proposal efforts. This position will be customer-facing and the successful candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and Indirect involvement with customers to gather technical requirements.
  • Define system design to meet customer’s SOW or RFQ including network topology
  • Interface with customers and vendors to refine requirements, define vendor content and performance compliance.
  • Provide technical support and manage proposal preparation.
  • Accountable for all technical aspects of programs and perform technical presentations to management for approval and risk mitigation plan.
  • Serve as intermediary between the Sales team and the rest of the organization.
  • Customer demonstrations of Gilat DataPath products and solutions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering or related technical area, or equivalent years of experience
  • Extensive knowledge of satellite communications-related products and technologies.
  • Minimum of 10 years SATCOM system/product applications, system architectures, specifications and performance engineering experience
  • Commercial and Military SATCOM experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision, being self-driven with a desire to add value to an energetic team.
  • Problem-solving ability while reacting to changing situations and championing issues to resolution.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Non-US acquisition procedures (Government and Commercial) preferred
  • Ability to perform detailed work and being thorough in completing tasks.
  • Very good computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
  • Individual must understand strategic selling concepts, and must be able to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
