POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Engineering oversees all physical plant related functions in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Functional areas include engineering, building maintenance, grounds, and safety. The Director establishes and implements policies and procedures, develops staffing plans, reports and budgets, coordinates with other departments, and ensures quality Resident services. The Director's primary duty is to oversee and supervise the plant and operations staff as well as contracted vendors, to assure all necessary measures are taken to carry out the above successfully.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Support mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
  2. Oversee entire physical Engineering. Plan, direct, and evaluate activities of engineering, maintenance and safety in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  3. Monitor status of building and grounds; plan for needed maintenance, repair, supplies, and equipment. Consult with designers, architects, engineers, vendors, maintenance providers, and contractors, and evaluate and supervise their performance to assure expectation levels are met.
  4. Administer the Property/Community Risk Management Procedure Plan.
  5. Direct staff project assignments within budget and on schedule, adhering to quality and safety.
  6. Administer Associate Policies and Procedures. Develop, maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures and job descriptions. Orient staff and train on policies and procedures.
  7. Develop and monitor departmental budget, forecasts and staffing plan. Ensure proper utilization of financial resources.
  8. Make reports and recommendations to the Executive Director as necessary or required concerning the operation of the department.
  9. Advise on prospective Dominion Partner's senior living developments and/or acquisitions relating
    to Engineering.
  10. Develop methods for coordination of the departments' services with other Resident services, to ensure the continuity of the Residentsโ€™ total regimen of care.
  11. Participate in surveys and inspections made by government agencies.
  12. Complete appropriate forms, reports, evaluations, and studies.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned. Attend in-service classes and staff meetings.
  14. Obtain and demonstrate knowledge of the Discover Your Spark Lifestyle and Wellness philosophy and its inherent core values. Support and participate in Discover Your Spark (e.g. assist with feedback groups, assist in new initiatives, encourage Residents and act as champions of fun).
  15. Continue to develop job related knowledge, skills and abilities by participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible work experience in physical Engineering in the senior living industry or related environment.
