Job description

Patient Transport

Location: Irvine, CA 92618 Duration: 6 Months Schedule: Part Time Must be available for ALL shifts based on department need. Must have full weekend availability.

Job Summary

The Support Services department ensures timely and efficient transportation of patients and materials throughout the hospital and assigned locations. Under the direct supervision of the Support Services Manager, Supervisor, and Lead, the Patient Transporter performs a variety of transportation duties while maintaining a high quality of service and following hospital/company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients and materials throughout the hospital.
  • Complete shift preparation by rounding the floors and performing downtime duties.
  • Assist with training new Patient Transporters.
  • Follow established procedures and hospital safety and service standards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency and urgent situations.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and follow instructions.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to understand job-specific forms, documents, signs, symbols, and instructions.
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and urgent situations.
  • Ability to work well with others and follow instructions.
  • Flexibility to work according to hospital staffing needs.
  • Patient Transport experience is desirable.
  • Basic Math skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of the 24-hour time system preferred.

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is required prior to hire.
  • Valid California Driverโ€™s License required for employees authorized to operate Hoag vehicles.
