Operations Maintenance Technician โ€“ Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $15.00
Pay Grade: PT | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.
Location: Various
Penitentiary Glen Nature Center, Kirtland, OH 44094
Painesville Township Park, Painesville, OH 44077
Position Description: Under the direction of the Park Maintenance Superintendent or Park Maintenance Regional Supervisor, the Operations Maintenance Technician performs building and grounds maintenance at Lake Metroparks parks and facilities. This includes daily janitorial operations, landscaping, seasonal maintenance, and general upkeep of public-use areas. This position requires flexibility to work up to 28 hours per week, including weekdays, weekends, some evenings, and holidays.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Performing daily custodial and janitorial tasks including restroom and shelter cleaning, trash removal, recycling, and supply restocking.
  • Conducting mowing, landscaping, seasonal grounds maintenance, and assisting with snow and ice control through plowing, shoveling, and mechanical removal.
  • Completing basic building and grounds repairs, such as minor electrical, plumbing, and mechanical tasks.
  • Assisting with special projects including trail work, tree removals, and construction of park amenities.
  • Operating and maintaining all assigned tools, vehicles, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in building and grounds maintenance, janitorial operations, landscaping, and basic mechanical tasks.
  • Experience with trucks, trailers, mowers, tractors, snowplows, and similar equipment preferred.
  • Must be able to work effectively with limited supervision and be self-directed.
  • Must be able to travel frequently to various park locations.
Position Requirements:
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with insurability under the Agencyโ€™s policy.
  • Ability to operate Park District vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor, lift/move up to 50 lbs. routinely and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must pass a preโ€‘employment background check.
  • Must follow an irregular schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); and operate ATVs, skid steers, dump trailers, tractors, snow blowers, small power tools, and hand tools.
