Job description

FountainRx Specialty Pharmacy is seeking an experienced, highly accountable, and operationally focused Senior Director of Operations to lead and oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations within our growing specialty pharmacy organization.
As a rapidly growing, 50-state licensed specialty pharmacy, FountainRx is seeking a strong operational leader who can effectively manage complex workflows, lead multidisciplinary teams, and support continued organizational growth and scalability.
This leadership role requires a strong background in direct pharmacy operations management, demonstrated experience leading teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and the ability to drive operational excellence while maintaining a culture of professionalism, respect, accountability, and high performance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, solutions-driven, highly organized, and capable of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on operational leadership. This individual will play a critical role in optimizing workflows, supporting employee development, ensuring operational compliance, and maintaining an exceptional experience for patients, providers, payors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and business partners.
A licensed pharmacist is preferred; however, highly qualified Certified Pharmacy Technicians with extensive operational leadership experience will also be strongly considered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct oversight and leadership of pharmacy operations teams and departmental managers
  • Lead daily operational execution across specialty pharmacy workflows, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, accountability, and service excellence
  • Manage employee performance, coaching, development, and operational expectations across assigned teams
  • Foster a professional, respectful, collaborative, and solutions-oriented workplace culture
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics, purchasing, marketing, sales, client services, revenue cycle, technology, and executive leadership teams
  • Work closely with Provider Relations, Payor Relations, and Pharma Relations leadership to support strategic initiatives, operational alignment, and partner experience
  • Coordinate operational strategy and execution with internal and external stakeholders, including providers, payors, manufacturers, and key business partners
  • Monitor and improve operational processes, workflow optimization, productivity, staffing efficiency, and service standards
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accreditation standards, payer requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations
  • Identify operational challenges proactively and implement process improvement initiatives that support scalability and growth
  • Analyze operational metrics, reporting, staffing models, and performance indicators to support informed decision-making and organizational strategy
  • Assist with policy and procedure development, implementation, and operational standardization across the organization
  • Serve as a visible, engaged, and accountable leader within the organization

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent direct pharmacy operations management experience required
  • Specialty pharmacy leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience with direct employee oversight, team leadership, and operational accountability
  • Licensed Pharmacist preferred; Certified Pharmacy Technician candidates with strong operational leadership experience will also be considered
  • Current Tennessee licensure or ability to obtain licensure preferred, if applicable
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacy operations, workflow management, compliance standards, and healthcare operations leadership
  • Experience collaborating across multiple operational departments and executive leadership teams
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
