Role Overview
HPE Networking is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Director of Security Operations to lead our Cloud security of large-scale AWS and GCP environments. This role reports to the Sr Director, CloudOps and Security and will define and execute our security operations strategy while building high-performing teams that protect HPE Networking cloud assets.
You will oversee security operations for AI-powered SaaS platforms built on cloud-native architectures across AWS and GCP, ensuring production stability, system reliability, and operational excellence across large-scale distributed systems.
This role owns cloud security domain and requires a leader who can operate with minimal direction, drive strategy, and deliver results in complex environments. As a senior member of the security leadership team, you will be expected to take broader organizational responsibilities.
This is a technical leadership role. While you will not write production code daily, you should be comfortable reviewing code, writing scripts, and engaging in technical problem-solving when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Security Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and lead a unified security operations strategy across Cloud Security (for SaaS products).

  • Mature and expand the Cloud security poster management program

  • Partner with Corporate Security, Engineering, Product Management, IT, Legal, and Executive Leadership to align security priorities with organization goals.

  • Ensure measurable outcomes and accountability for cloud security across various SaaS products.

  • Ensure the organization remain compliant with various compliance programs like PCI-DSS, ISO27001/2 and SOC-2.

Technical Leadership
  • Maintain strong technical depth to evaluate designs, challenge assumptions, and guide engineering decisions.

  • Hands-on engagement, when necessary, to review the security architecture, protections, investigate incidents, audit IAM configurations, and prototype solutions.

  • Promote automation, scalability, and reliability across security operations.

Executive Communication & Crisis Leadership
  • Advise leadership on security risks, threat landscape, and operational health.

  • Provide executive visibility into security posture, investments, and key risks.

  • Translate threat intelligence into business-relevant insights.

  • Lead response and communication during major security incidents.

  • Represent HPE cloud security operations externally when appropriate.

Qualifications & Experience
  • 10+ years in cybersecurity, with 3+ years leading multiple teams or managers.

  • Must be experienced with various encryption standards, IAM, RBAC, security protocols, WAF, CIS benchmarking.

  • Deep expertise in securing AWS and/or GCP cloud services.

  • Must have experience securing Kubernetes Infra and Virtual Machines using IaC.

  • Strong technical background with the ability to read and write code (Python preferred)

  • Experience building or maturing security programs and operational capabilities.

  • Proven decision-maker who can act decisively during critical incidents.

  • Excellent communicator, able to engage engineers, executives, and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to operate with high autonomy and minimal supervision.

  • Experience leading teams through major security incidents.
